A

Account Name

(Optional) An Account Name can be assigned to a particular customer account or location (maximum 15 characters that include letters A-Z, numbers 0-9, hyphen, space and underscore). Account Name is input on the Control Set-up Tab, in the currently selected language, and is not translated if the language is changed. Account Name only appears in the Summary Tab if one has already been input or is part of an existing file.

Amount

This is identical to volume and indicates the quantity of chemical to dispense. In reports, Amount includes individual totals from each pump and total volumes dispensed for all pumps. Pump amounts can be in Metric (milliliters) or SAE (ounces) units. In the Formula Editor's Pump Set-up Tab, each pump can be set with three different amounts (A, B and C amounts). Amount A runs first, followed by B and then C. Only Amount C can be repeated if more than three requests are made to the same pump.

B

Background Color

The screen color of the Formula Editor window may be changed to improve visibility and better suit the working environment. To change the background color of the menu screen, go to the Tools menu and select Options.

C

Calibrate Pumps

The installer must calibrate all pumps that will be used in a formula, using the method best suited for the pump installed. Programmed formulas will not run if pumps are not calibrated. Pump calibration can only be set using the controller keypad; it is not a part of a Setup File.

Chemical Name (Pump Name)

(Optional) In the Pump Set-up Tab, the installer may add a name to the pump number. Typically, the pump name is the type of product, or chemical brand name, that the pump dispenses. Example: P2 DETERGENT. This name also appears on Summary Reports of volume pumped and costs.

Close

On the File menu, this closes the current open file but does not close the application. If the current file contains unsaved changes, the user is prompted to save the file before closing, if desired.

Configure Flush

The installer must select the appropriate pump interface for the system being implemented. If the PI board being used is not listed, "Non-Flush" should be selected. If a flush P.I. board is selected and a flush manifold will be used, a Flush Time must be input (on the Control Set-up Tab) to enable flush operation. See Also: Eclipse Flush P.I. Controller

The Electrolux dispenser controller guides or manages the delivery of chemicals (through a pumpstand) to a washing machine. The controller also manages flush functions.

Copy

On the Edit Menu, Copy duplicates the information highlighted by the cursor and places it on the clipboard. That clipboard content can then be pasted into another field. (Keystroke shortcut: press the "Ctrl" key and the "c" key at the same time.)

Cost per Volume

(Optional) If a cost per volume of chemical is input for each pump (on the Pump Set-up Tab), the Summary Reports will compile and report the total cost of each dispensed chemical. Various types of currency may be input. The field allows up to four digits to the left of a decimal point and two digits to the right of a decimal point (maximum 0000.00).

Count Pump

A count pump is used to determine when the wash cycle has completed. The system records a complete wash cycle after all programmed amounts for the count pump have been dispensed. The default count pump is the highest pump for which an amount is programmed. Note the count pump may be overridden by the installer, who may select a count pump other than the default.

The installer must insure that:

1.      At least one amount is programmed for the count pump

2.      The count pump is requested to run for all programmed amounts when adding pumps to the set-up. If two or three amounts have been assigned to the count pump, it must be requested to run at least two or three times, respectively.

IMPORTANT NOTE: The last pump to run must be the count pump. If the count pump is changed from the default, and it runs before other programmed pumps in a formula, the wash cycle will end prematurely after the count pump dispenses it's last programmed amount. In the event that not all count pump amounts are run, the cycle will be designated an “incomplete load.”

Customize

On the Tools Menu, Customize allows the user to change the Background Color of the menus and the default Language used in Formula Editor. See Also: Tools Menu.

Cut

On the Edit menu, Cut removes the information highlighted by the cursor within the Formula Editor. (Keystroke shortcut: press the "Ctrl" key and the "x" key at the same time.)

Cycle Time

Cycle Time acts as a backup shut off to insure that the cycle ends and product is not wasted in the event of a formula run error. At the Cycle Time limit, the wash cycle stops, even if the count pump has not yet run.

Set Cycle Time (on Control Set-up Tab) to at least 5 minutes longer than longest estimated time that any wash cycle will run. Cycle Time can be set to 00 (OFF), or between 30 – 99 minutes. The default is 90 minutes.

NOTE:  If Cycle Time is set to OFF, the count pump must run in order to end the wash cycle.

D

Delay Time

The pump Delay Time is the waiting period that occurs after a qualified signal is received and before the pump is allowed to start dispensing. A Delay Time is used to stagger operation of pumps within a formula. The Delay Time (0-999 seconds) is set on the Standard Formulas Tab.

E

Eclipse Flush P.I. (default)

If the pump interface board looks like this, select Eclipse Flush P.I. in the Control Set-up Tab.

This selection allows the use of the Eclipse pump interface with flush control functions. When flush with a flow switch is utilized, the system will shut down all pumps if no flow is sensed or if the water flow falls below 0.65 Gallons (2.4 Liters) per minute.

Edit Menu

This menu contains basic editing tools and actions, including Cut, Copy and Paste.

.ELE File

A .ELE file is another name for a Setup File. When complete, a Setup File contains the collection of settings that comprise a fully operational controller (settings and formulas), once the pumps have been calibrated.  A new Formula Editor files opens with the name "untitled.ELE" and contains the factory default settings, with formulas and pumps set to zero. The file can be edited and/or saved with a 20 character name that can only include the characters A-Z, 0-9, underscore (_) and space.

Exit

On the File menu, this closes the Formula Editor and all files that are currently open. If the current file contains unsaved changes, the user is prompted to save the file before closing, if desired.

F

File Menu

The heading within the menu structure in which basic application and file functions are available, including New, Open, Close, Save, Save As, Summary and Exit.

Flush Operation (for a Flush-compatible P.I. ONLY)

Flush prevents incompatible chemicals from combining. When a flush-compatible Pump Interface (P.I.) is selected on the Control Set-up Tab, flush can be enabled by setting the Flush Time to 1 - 99 seconds. If the Flush Time is set to zero (0), flush is disabled, even when using a flush-compatible P.I.

Flush Time

Flush Time refers to the post-flush time, or the amount of time flush continues after a pump stops running. The default Flush Time is 0 seconds (OFF) and can be set for 1 - 99 seconds. If the Electrolux dispenser controller is using a flush capable P.I., a Flush Time must be set on the Control Set-up Tab to enable flush operation. See Also: Configure Flush.

Formula

A formula contains a combination of settings (pump volumes, delay times, load weights and count pump) that direct the application of chemicals, in a specific format, for the load to be washed. See Also: Program a Formula. See Also: Formula Rules.

Formula Pump Amounts

A pump may be set up to dispense multiple times, with up to three different amounts (identified as Amounts A, B, and C). A pump will not dispense unless at least one amount (not zero) is set for that pump in the formula. See Also: Formula Rules.

Formula Rules

If only the A amount is programmed for a pump in a formula, the first request results in Amount A dispensing. Additional requests within the same wash cycle are ignored.

If only A and B amounts are programmed for a pump in a formula, the first request results in the dispensing of Amount A. The second request results in the dispensing of Amount B. Additional requests (after the second request) are ignored.

If all three amounts (A, B, and C) are programmed for a pump in a formula, the first request results in the dispensing of Amount A. The second request results in the dispensing of Amount B and the third request results in the dispensing of Amount C. Each additional request (after the third request) results in the dispensing of Amount C again. The dispensing sequence is reset when the wash cycle ends (either because the count pump’s highest amount has run or the Cycle Time has been reached, whichever is first).

Formula Settings

To Program a Formula (20 maximum):

  1. Highlight the formula to be created.
  2. (Optional) To add a unique name (of up to 15 characters) to the formula number, begin typing the new name. The placeholder (-NAME 01-, for example) is replaced with the new name, F01 PRE-WASH. Press the Tab key to move through the various input fields for this formula.
  3. Set the default weight for a load washed using this formula. (The wash machine operator can later override the default weight for a specific load.)
  4. Enter the desired Pump Delay and Pump Amounts to be dispensed for each pump in the formula.
  5. (Optional) Override the default count pump, if needed.

NOTE: Adding a name to each formula number assists the operator in formula selection. The name is input in the currently selected language and is not translated if the language is changed.

L

Language

There are multiple languages available for the Formula Editor. When a new language is selected, all static menu and application items are translated into that language. Text that was input by the installer remains in the original language and is not translated.

Additional languages should be downloaded to the computer on which the Formula Editor is used and should be placed in the Program Files\Hydro Systems\Formula Editor Electrolux\Languages folder.

To select a new language for use in the Formula Editor, click Tools / Customize / Languages.
Selecting a language changes the tab and menu labels on the Formula Editor only, but does not change the Electrolux dispenser controller's menu language when the Setup file is transferred to the controller.

To change the menu language of the Electrolux dispenser controller to any other than two pre-installed, default languages:

  1. Power OFF the Electrolux dispenser controller for four seconds.
  2. Insert a USB flash drive into the controller's USB port (this causes the Language Menu to appear, regardless of whether the USB flash drive contains any language files).
  3. Restore power to the controller. The list of available language files appears.
  4. Select a language to replace the non-English language in the controller. English always remains as one of the two default languages to enable Nova Controls to provide diagnostic technical support.

M

Machine Interface

The machine interface is the accomplished using the Electrolux serial protocol available on the Compass and Clarus controls. Data and supply signals are received from the washer through this interface.

Machine Name

(Optional) The Machine Name is specific to each machine and can only be set using the Electrolux dispenser controller's keypad (not with the Formula Editor). This name is helpful is differentiating Summary Reports. Input any name of up to 15 characters. The name is input in the currently selected language and is not translated if the language is changed.

 Move Formula Up

Select a formula to move up in the list of formulas. All pump settings and the default weight will move with the formula. If no name has been input, the default name (e.g., -NAME 07-) will not display when the file is read by the Electrolux dispenser controller.

Move Formula Down

Select a formula to move down in the list of formulas. All pump settings and the default weight will move with the formula. If no name has been input, the default name (e.g., -NAME 07-) will not display when the file is read by the Electrolux dispenser controller.

N

New

In the File menu, New creates a new Set-up file (.ELE file) that contains the factory defaults with blank inputs. This allows the installer to create and save a new settings file that contains controller set-up and formulas.

Non-Flush

Use this Pump Interface selection (Configure Flush on the Control Set-up Tab) for non-flush installations. Non-Flush allows three pumps to run simultaneously.

O

Open

On the File menu, Open allows you to navigate to an existing Formula Editor set-up (.ELE) file and open it. The .ELE file may have been created with the Formula Editor or with the Electrolux dispenser controller. The file contains settings that determine the formulas, names, etc.

Options

Select the Language, Units of Measurement or Formula Editor screen background color to be used when creating .ELE files with the Formula Editor. Select SAVE to keep the new settings. Select EXIT or CLOSE to quit the file and discard changes.

NOTE:  Selecting a language (via Options) in the Formula Editor allows input in that language, and transfers the set-up file in that language, but does not change the menu language in the Electrolux dispenser controller. The controller's menu language must be set at the controller.

              Selecting a Unit of Measure (via Options) sets it as the Formula Editor's default unit of measure when new files are created. The Unit of Measure may be changed in an individual file by selecting the alternate radio button on the Control Set-up Tab. Existing files that were created with a different unit of measure are not converted to the default unit of measure when they are opened in the Formula Editor.

Orion II Flush P.I.

If the pump interface board looks like this, select Orion II Flush P.I.

This selection allows the use of the Orion II pump interface with flush control functions. When flush with a flow switch is utilized, the system will shut down all pumps if no flow is sensed or if the water flow falls below 0.65 Gallons (2.4 Liters) per minute.

Paste

On the Edit menu, this places the copied clipboard contents into the field selected with the cursor. (Keystroke shortcut: press the "Ctrl" key and the "v" key at the same time.)

Prime

The prime function manually runs a pump to fill the input/pick-up tube that runs from a product container to the pump itself to make the chemical ready for delivery.

Prime, User

The User Prime function allows the machine operator to prime a pump between wash cycles, specifically after a product container change. To allow User Prime, select one of the following on the Control Set-up Tab:

Disabled = OFF and not available to the user (default).

Enabled = ON and fully functional to the operator (as it would be for the installer).

Limited = ON, but each pump can only be primed for a total of 30 seconds and cannot be primed again until the next wash cycle has ended.

Program a Formula

To Program a Formula (50 maximum):

  1. Highlight the formula to be created.
  2. (Optional) To add a unique name (of up to 15 characters) to the formula number, begin typing the new name. The placeholder (-NAME 01-, for example) is replaced with the new name, F01 PRE-WASH. Press the Tab key to move through the various input fields for this formula.

  5. (Optional) Override the default count pump, if needed.
  6. The Program Select matches the specified dispinser formula to the Electrlux washer that corresponds to the active (program) slot set up in the washer. (e.g. value of 2 would allow the formula to run when the 2nd (active) program on the washer is started.

Pump

Pump refers to the individual peristaltic or diaphragm pumps in the dispenser that are operated by the controller. See Also: Count Pump.

Pump Interface

The Pump Interface (P.I.) refers to the printed circuit board inside of the pump cabinet.

Pump Name

(Optional) In the Pump Set-up Tab, the installer may add a name to the pump number. Typically, the pump name is the type of product or chemical brand name that the pump dispenses (example: P2 DETERGENT. This name appears on Summary Reports with calculations of the amount of chemicals pumped and the associated costs.

Pump Mapping

The five input signals can each trigger up to 3 pumps for dispensing. A pump may be used in more than one signal group. The trigger signals determine which group of pumps will dispense their programmed formula amounts, and in which order. All pumped amounts and delays are based upon the currently selected formula. Pumps 6, 7 and 8 can be configured but will not not be displayed on the Electrox controller's main screen. Pumps 7 and 8 are only relevent when the 8-Pump interface is configured in the settings.

Pump Select

The Program Select matches the specified dispinser formula to the Electrlux washer that corresponds to the active (program) slot set up in the washer. (e.g. value of 2 would allow the formula to run when the 2nd (active) program on the washer is started.

S

Save

On the File menu, this saves the currently open file. If changes have been made, the original file will be updated with those changes. (Keystroke shortcut: press the "Ctrl" key and the "s" key at the same time.)

Save As

On the File menu, this allows the user to save the current document/file with a new name. This is particularly useful when a file has been altered but should not be overwritten. A Formula Editor file name can be up to 20 characters long and can only include the characters A-Z, 0-9, underscore (_) and space. The 20-character limit does not include the file type designation of .ELE.

Setup File

A Setup File (or a Setup) contains the collection of settings that comprise a fully operational controller, once the pumps have been calibrated. The following settings are not transferred with a setup file and can only be edited using the controller's Installer Menus: Installer Password, Manager Password, Machine Name, Company Name and Pump Calibration. See Also: .ELE File.

Set-up Summary Tab

This "display only" tab shows data that was set in other tabs or input from another file. The gray input field on this tab indicates that settings cannot be changed here. To input or edit settings, select any other tab (Control Set-up, Pump Set-up, etc.).

Summary Tab

The Set-up Summary Tab displays information that was input on other tabs or in the controller. It is a "view only" tab.

Summary

On the File menu, Summary displays the current Setup File information in a Web browser, providing a preview of the control set-up, pump setup and formula information. Select File > Print to send this information to a printer. (Keystroke shortcut: press the "Ctrl" key and the "p" key at the same time.)

Tab

An individual page of the Formula Editor, with headings such as Set-up Summary, Control Set-up, Pump Set-up, Standard Formula, Event Set-up, Group Set-up and Occurrence. Click on the heading to view the page or to make changes. 

Tools Menu

Tools contains the functions that are specific to this application, including Formula Editor Options (change Language, Unit of Measure or Background Color) or Customizations. 

NOTE:  Selecting a Language (via Tools > Options or Tools > Customize) changes the tab and menu labels on the Formula Editor into the language selected, but does not change the Electrolux controller dispenser's menu language when the Setup file is transferred to the controller.

              To change the Electrolux controller dispenser's menu language after first power up, power down for four seconds, connect a USB flash drive (even if it doesn't contain any languages, it will give access to the Language menu) then restore power and select one of the displayed languages.

NOTE:  Selecting a Unit of Measure (via Tools > Options or Tools > Customize) sets it as the Formula Editor's default Unit of Measure when new files are created. Existing files that were created with a different Unit of Measure are not converted to the default Unit of Measure when they are opened in the Formula Editor.

              To convert the Unit of Measure in any individual file, select the alternate radio button on the Control Set-up Tab.

Trigger

An electrical signal received from a washer.

Trigger Spacing and Pump Queue

Pumps can be triggered to run in several different ways. If a trigger for a pump to run occurs and the pump is already running, the trigger is ignored. This could result in not running some or all of the pumps called for by a trigger signal.

NOTE:  It is imperative that the installer allows plenty of time between triggers to insure that a pump (or group of pumps) will run for each of its triggers.

In P.I.s with Flush enabled, whenever different pumps attempt to run simultaneously, they are placed in a pump queue and then run in sequence. A pump is added to the queue whenever there is a valid trigger for it, as long as it is not currently running and is not already in the queue. The queue allows for up to seven (7) pumps (other than the currently running pump), to be "queued up," waiting to run in sequence. 

U

Units/Units of Measure

Units are the method of measuring pump amounts or load weight. Set either SAE/Imperial (oz., gal., lb.) or Metric (ml. L., kg.) units. The factory default is SAE/Imperial.

To change the Units for an individual set-up file, select the alternate Units setting on the Control Set-up Tab. 

To change the default Units (that will be used when new files are created), set the Units of Measure via the Tools Menu / Options / Units of Measure setting. Changing the default Units will not affect existing Setup Files. Existing files will retain their Units of Measure setting and are not converted to the Formula Editor's default when they are opened.

User Prime

The User Prime function allows the machine operator to prime a pump between wash cycles, specifically after a product container change. The default setting is Disabled = OFF and not available to the user.

To allow User Prime, select one of the following on the Control Set-up Tab:

Enabled = ON and fully functional to the operator (as it would be for the installer).

Limited = ON, but each pump can only be primed for a total of 30 seconds and cannot be primed again until the next wash cycle has ended.

Numbers

8-Pump Flush P.I.

If the pump interface board looks like this, select 8-Pump Flush P.I.
Be sure that the Flush/Non-Flush Selection Jumper is set in the "flush" position.

Regardless of the Flush setting, pumps 3 and 7 and pumps 5 and 8 cannot run simultaneously on 8-Pump Interfaces. They can be requested to run at the same time, but they will run sequentially, based on the pump order or delays set.

In Standard Mode, pumps 3 and 7 are triggered by the same trigger signal, Trigger 3. (Pumps 5 and 8 are also triggered by the same trigger signal, Trigger 5.)  See Also: 8-Pump Formula Rules.

8-Pump Formula Rules

If Amounts A, B and C are programmed for both pumps, on the first instance of Trigger 3, pump 3 Amount A will dispense and then pump 7 Amount A will dispense. On the second instance of Trigger 3, pump 3 Amount B will dispense and then pump 7 Amount B, and so on.

If the installer wants only pump 7 to dispense its Amount A, then pump 3 Amount A must be set to zero. If the installer wants only pump 3 to dispense its Amount A, then pump 7 Amount A must be set to zero.

Note that if pumps 6, 7 or 8 are used the run time will not be displayed on the dispenser controller.
